Description

About the Role

As the senior engineer in our Crypto Intelligence Engineering team, you'll be working in the heart of Elliptic, building a platform for our intelligence organisation to efficiently and robustly collect intel on crypto crime.

The mission of your new team is to scale the collection efforts of Elliptic. Streams of intelligence come from myriad sources: external feeds, internal automation, internal analysis, client submitted data. It all needs to be classified, stored, and reviewed, before it can be processed into our market leading proprietary graph database.

You will work with two other engineers - and with our technical founder - to create tooling, optimise processes, and remove bottlenecks in these intel pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

What you will do
  • Design and build software tools to improve and enhance our intelligence collection and analysis efforts. Examples of such tools range from compiled build-and-load programs up to browser extensions and web applications.
  • Develop software to analyse and interpret cryptocurrency usage behaviours and trends on the clear and dark web
  • Implement observability mechanisms (we use DataDog) to detect problems in your environment(s), and run the associated business processes to resolve
  • Work with the existing engineers on your team to foster their growth and development, and facilitate best practices, through mentoring and coaching
  • Be highly opinionated about the engineering strategy of your team, and a key contributor to the same.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

You will be a great fit here if you
  • Have a passionate interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchains and their usage (both from a technical and economic perspective) in the real-world
  • Demonstrably great coding skills in at least one language and the proven ability to engineer good solutions
  • Have increased operational efficiency by integrating disparate systems
  • Enjoy working as part of a close-knit team on highly impactful problems
  • Promote a positive culture of collaboration, through open and effective communication, particularly when addressing issues or raising concerns.
  • Are able to form well reasoned, data driven or otherwise evidence based arguments, to influence key stakeholders across the business.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Has 5+ years commercial experience
  • Expert level in (Javascript|Typescript|Python)
  • Familiar with Postgres and K8s
  • Feels at home in AWS console
  • Has built infrastructure with Terraform
Bonus points
  • Has worked in an intelligence collection setting
  • Experience with "big data" technologies, the management of data, and data pipelines
  • Familiarity with functional programming concepts
  • Has run production workloads of 1000s QPS
  • Has been part of an "on call" incident response team (though this role does not involve an "on call" component)
