Job summary

Harvey Nash Group is seeking a Senior Full Stack Python Engineer to drive backend services in Python and engineer AI-enabled data platforms in a hybrid London environment. The role focuses on building MCP servers, async processing, and enterprise integrations while delivering scalable enterprise-grade software.

You will work with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions, integrating React front-ends and data-visualisation interfaces using AG Grid and Oracle databases.

Qualifications

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Python Engineer to join a leading global investment bank, working on the development of intelligent backend systems, agentic AI capabilities and modern enterprise data platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on engineer to work at the intersection of Python engineering, distributed systems, Generative AI and full-stack development.

You will be responsible for designing and delivering production‑grade backend services, asynchronous processing pipelines, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and AI‑driven workflows, alongside modern React‑based front‑end applications.

You will also work closely with business stakeholders, product owners and technical teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Python.

• Build asynchronous task‑processing pipelines using Celery, Redis, Celery Beat and Flower.

• Develop MCP servers and tools to expose internal APIs, databases and enterprise systems to AI agents.

• Implement agentic AI workflows using LangChain and/or LangGraph.

• Build modern, responsive front‑end applications using React.

• Develop complex data visualisation interfaces using AG Grid.

• Design and optimise SQL queries and work with Oracle databases.

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and enterprise integrations.

• Contribute to architectural decisions around scalability, resilience and distributed systems.

• Work directly with business users and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.

• Take ownership of features throughout the development lifecycle, from initial design through to production deployment.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience developing applications using Python (5+ years).

• Hands‑on experience with asynchronous programming and distributed task processing.

• Practical experience with Celery, Redis, Celery Beat and Flower.

• Experience building MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and tools.

• Experience implementing agentic AI workflows using LangChain and/or LangGraph.

• Strong front‑end development experience using React.

• Experience with AG Grid and complex data‑driven interfaces.

• Strong SQL skills, ideally with Oracle database experience.

• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.

• Understanding of distributed systems, microservices and event‑driven architectures.

• Experience writing automated tests and delivering production‑quality software.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage directly with business stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within Investment Banking or Financial Services.

• Exposure to commodities markets, commodity indices or trading environments.

• Experience working with market data platforms or financial data systems.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.

• Exposure to vector databases, embeddings and RAG architectures.

• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus and ELK.
