Job summary

Holt Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a growing space/defence focused engineering team.

You will design backend and frontend systems, develop scalable databases, and build containerised applications with Docker and Kubernetes. The role requires 5+ years of experience in mission-critical software, React frontend work, and Agile/Scrum practices. Hybrid work is available with relocation support possible.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years experience developing software for mission-critical or high-reliability applications.
• Strong full stack software development experience.
• Extensive OO programming experience using Java, Python or C++.
• Experience developing modern frontend applications using React.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using modern programming languages.
• Architect and develop responsive, user-focused frontend applications using modern frameworks.
• Design, manage and optimise databases to ensure performance, reliability and data integrity.
• Build and maintain containerised applications using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to support efficient software delivery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define, design and deliver new capabilities.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues across the full technology stack.
• Contribute to Agile development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Support continuous improvement of software engineering processes, tools and practices.
