Job summary

Fitch Ratings in Manchester is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Ratings Technology team. You will build and maintain mission-critical full-stack applications using Python and React, delivering insights to analysts and decision-makers across global markets.

You will work with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern data tools, collaborating across product and engineering teams while growing toward senior technical tracks in a hybrid Manchester office environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise applications and modern web technologies in production environments.
• Strong understanding of OOP concepts, design patterns, SOLID principles, algorithms, data structures, and ability to write clean, maintainable code.
• Proficiency in Python (Pandas, FastAPI, Flask) for building enterprise applications, data processing, and API development.
• Frontend development with ReactJS, TypeScript/JavaScript and modern web development practices.
• Hands-on experience with RDBMS databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
• DevOps & Cloud – CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Bash, and AWS.
• Effective communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack applications.
• Contribute to the development lifecycle with clean, maintainable code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with diverse data technologies including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB.
• Collaborate with product managers, analysts, and engineers to meet business needs.
• Follow SOLID principles and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance for reliability.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and share knowledge across the team.
