Job summary

Fruition Group in Leeds is seeking a senior software engineer to own architecture across TypeScript, Node.js and React on a modern AWS‑based platform. You will shape system design, drive engineering standards and mentor others while delivering high‑quality software with AI‑assisted approaches.

You will lead complex projects, collaborate with product stakeholders and ensure robust testing, observability and secure deployment. Hybrid working in Leeds enables close teamwork and impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering with senior ownership.
• Expert knowledge of TypeScript with deep experience in either Node.js backend or React frontend.
• Strong AWS experience designing scalable, secure cloud systems.
• Experience leading complex projects and supporting production systems.
• Solid understanding of testing strategies, CI/CD, deployment practices, observability, and secure development.
• Experience mentoring engineers and communicating technical decisions to stakeholders.
• Considered approach to AI-assisted engineering and coding agents.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deliver complex systems using TypeScript, Node.js, React and AWS, taking projects from initial requirements through to production.
• Lead architectural decisions, document technical trade-offs and establish scalable, secure and maintainable engineering practices.
• Own system reliability, testing strategies, deployment processes and production performance, including incident management and continuous improvement.
• Design resilient, cost-effective cloud solutions and identify opportunities to reduce technical debt.
• Establish best practices for AI-assisted development, ensuring AI-generated code is reviewed, tested and delivered within appropriate security and quality controls.
• Mentor and support other engineers, leading design reviews and helping the team develop its technical capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to balance technical quality, delivery priorities and customer outcomes.

Requirements

• Strong professional software engineering experience, typically five or more years, with evidence of senior-level technical ownership.
• Expert knowledge of TypeScript, with deep expertise in either Node.js/backend engineering or React/frontend engineering, alongside the ability to work across the stack.
• Strong AWS experience, including designing cloud systems for scalability, resilience, security and cost efficiency.
• Experience leading complex projects, making architectural decisions and supporting systems in production.
• A solid understanding of testing strategies, CI/CD, deployment practices, system observability and secure software development.
• Experience mentoring engineers and communicating technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A considered approach to AI-assisted engineering, understanding where coding agents add value and where human oversight is essential.
