Job summary

Synthesia is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Design System team in London. You’ll be a co-owner of the shared UI foundation, delivering high-quality React/TypeScript components and tooling, with a hands-on focus.

The role emphasizes building an AI-friendly design system that enables humans and agents to author on-brand, accessible interfaces by construction. You’ll work with design, product and engineering to define APIs, improve developer experience, ensure WCAG 2.2 AA

Qualifications

Five years as a software engineer, including three at senior level, with ownership of a design system used across products.
Deep frontend expertise: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, strong React and modern tooling.
Strong command of design system APIs, versioning and developer experience.
Experience or strong interest in making component libraries consumable by AI.

Responsibilities

Build, scale and evolve the design system, component library, tokens and docs for a consistent foundation.
Extend the design system for AI-assisted development with Storybook and machine-readable interfaces.
Design component APIs to resist misuse for both AI and human developers.
Write high-quality, performant frontend code (React/TypeScript) with craft and consistency.
Collaborate with design, product and engineering to define components and production-ready solutions.
Ensure WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility by default and work with accessibility engineers.
