Job summary

AECOM is seeking a frontend-focused engineer to join its AI Engineering team. You’ll own the frontend experience of AI-driven products, collaborating with ML engineers and backend teams to deliver polished interfaces using Svelte and React (TypeScript).

The role emphasises frontend architecture, performance, and UX across production interfaces that visualise complex engineering data. Onboarding includes in-person Day 1 at an AECOM office.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience building production apps with TypeScript (Svelte or React).
• Degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Deep understanding of frontend architecture, patterns, and state management.
• Strong web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, browser APIs, performance, accessibility.
• Experience consuming REST APIs and real-time data in frontends.
• Familiarity with frontend build tools and testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain rich frontends using Svelte and React (TypeScript).
• Collaborate with product, ML, and backend engineers to ship features end-to-end.
• Translate AI/engineering outputs into intuitive UI components with strong UX and accessibility.
• Own frontend architecture decisions including state management and design system development.
• Improve frontend performance, architecture, and bundle optimization.
• Drive ownership from concept to deployment for frontend features.
• Build high-performance 2D/3D web experiences for engineering visualisations.
