Job description

We're looking for a Senior Fraud Analyst to join our Credit Risk team.

This is a key role in the Financial Services business with responsibility for helping to drive fraud strategy to protect the business from fraud and other financial crime. The ideal candidate will be an experienced fraud strategy professional, highly data literate, with good knowledge of platforms and techniques to combat fraud and financial crime, and with a strong understanding of balancing fraud minimization and sales maximization. This role is suitable for someone with analytical fraud strategy experience aiming to step into a senior analyst position.

You will report to the Senior Manager Fraud Strategy, responsible for fraud and financial crime strategy, and work closely with teams such as New Business Risk, Customer Operations, Warehouse Operations, Risk and Compliance, and Digital Technology. A significant growth opportunity is presented by the creation of a new Financial Services platform within our Group Strategy.

What you'll do as Senior Fraud Analyst at N Brown:
  1. Support all aspects of consumer fraud and financial crime, including knowledge of typologies and detection data, techniques, and platforms.
  2. Oversee the fraud control rule structure, collaborate with third-party providers like Lexis Nexis Threatmetrix, and lead continuous improvement in fraud strategy.
  3. Design and implement fraud strategies to detect and prevent impersonation, account takeover, and customer claim fraud, including UAT within fraud decision systems.
  4. Use data analysis and modeling to optimize rules for fraud detection while minimizing impact on legitimate sales; present findings to leadership.
  5. Monitor and evaluate fraud strategy performance, identify emerging risks or trends, and initiate actions.
  6. Track KPIs and KRIs to detect new risks and ensure strategy effectiveness.
  7. Lead tactical and strategic fraud initiatives, providing SME input.
  8. Collaborate across departments and with product owners to align fraud controls with business initiatives.
  9. Develop relationships internally and externally to N Brown.
  10. Stay informed of regulatory changes and ensure compliance of fraud strategies.
  11. Support delivery of fraud capabilities into the new Financial Services platform.
Skills & experience as Senior Fraud Analyst:
  • A degree in a STEM subject.
  • Experience in data analysis and strategy development for fraud prevention, preferably in a direct-to-consumer lending context.
  • Highly analytical with problem-solving skills through logical thinking.
  • Proficiency in SQL, SAS, or Python for data mining and analysis.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets using SQL.
  • Strong presentation skills to communicate complex analysis clearly.
  • Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing and delivering accurate outputs on time.
  • Effective collaboration skills and relationship-building across operational and digital teams.
