Job summary

Searchability in Newport is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to deliver FPGA work packages with VHDL, verification and integration on high‑performance hardware. The role is full‑time, on‑site in Newport with a 37‑hour week and SC clearance is required.

You will own FPGA requirements, designs and documentation, estimate work, and report progress to the Head of Hardware Engineering, collaborating with the team to meet cost, time and quality targets.

Qualifications

• Experience with VHDL and FPGA design, verification and integration.
• Design experience with Altera, Microsemi or Xilinx FPGAs.
• Ability to capture requirements, estimate work, and manage packages.
• Strong knowledge of FPGA development processes and methodologies.
• Proven ability to deliver FPGA designs independently with regular progress updates.
• Excellent communication, documentation and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver allocated FPGA work packages within cost, time and quality constraints.
• Define FPGA requirements, design, implement and verify using VHDL.
• Produce architectural and detailed designs with supporting docs.
• Perform FPGA design verification with simulation tools.
• Integrate FPGAs onto target hardware and provide technical support.
• Review and guide team members' work where applicable.
• Support FPGA process improvements and progress reporting.
