Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a Senior FPGA Development Engineer to define requirements and implement features for world-class control systems in VSC and LCC applications. You will collaborate with engineers globally to deliver robust hardware solutions.

The role requires deep FPGA experience, strong debugging skills, and proficiency with MATLAB/SIMULINK, scripting in Perl/Python, and vendor FPGA tools. On-site UK role with cutting-edge projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of FPGA design experience using VHDL/Verilog.
• Strong knowledge of analog/digital hardware design components.
• Exceptional hardware/FPGA debugging skills.
• Experience with Model Based design tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK.
• Scripting in Perl or Python.
• Experience with Altera, Microsemi, Xilinx FPGA devices and vendor tools.
• Ability to work autonomously or in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Power electronics control and HVDC knowledge.
• High-speed digital hardware design and PCB layout skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyse system requirements and define functions for hardware implementation.
• Develop and implement FPGA features and improvements.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to strategy.
• Maintain legacy products with updates to extend life cycle.
• Work with global engineering teams to resolve issues.
