Job summary

MDA Space is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join our UK team. You will work within a multi-disciplinary group to develop satellite telecom payloads, verify FPGAs for space and high reliability, and drive architecture and design across Microchip FPGAs for space missions.

The role requires deep FPGA expertise, VHDL and SystemVerilog proficiency, and experience with industry tools; leadership on complex projects is preferred. Hybrid work options apply in the UK.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of FPGA engineering experience in space or high-reliability sectors.
• Strong FPGA expertise for space applications (VHDL/SystemVerilog).
• Experience with FPGA design tools: Vivado, ModelSim, Libero.
• Leadership on complex FPGA projects; advantageous: high-reliability design, space payloads, signal integrity.

Responsibilities

• Work in a multi-disciplinary team developing satellite telecom payloads.
• Flow down subsystem requirements to FPGA components.
• Perform FPGA verification for high reliability/space systems.
• Architect, design and implement complex FPGA designs for space applications.
• Develop IP blocks for AMD SoCs.

We’re on the hunt for an FPGA Engineer.
MDA’s international footprint in the UK creates opportunities to work with some of the most exciting space industrial players in the country. Delivering all three business area capabilities in Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, our UK team provides support to our European-based customers while specializing in the development of advanced space sensors for exploration missions as well as space-based communication technology. Responsibilities

• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers developing satellite telecommunication payloads for a variety of orbits and missions
• Flow down of sub system requirements to the FPGAs
• FPGA Verification for high reliability / space systems
• Architecture, design and implementation of complex designs with Microchip FPGAs for Space applications
• Development of IP blocks for AMD SoCs

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in an FPGA engineering role, in the Space or an equivalent High Reliability sector
• Good understanding of FPGA technology for Space
• Experience with VHDL and System Verliog
• Experience FPGA design tools including Vivado, Modelsim and Libero
• Understanding of digital communications and DSP
• Leading complex FPGA projects
• Specialist knowledge in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
  • High reliability design and analysis (Space, Military, Automotive, etc)
  • Knowledge of LEO/GEO communications payloads
  • Signal integrity analysis
