SENIOR FOOTWEAR SNEAKER DESIGNER

LUXURY FOOTWEAR / TRAINER BRAND

This role is based in Swansea, Wales. Our client is interested in hearing from Senior Footwear Designers who are interested in relocating.

Our client, a luxury trainer/footwear brand, is experiencing strong online growth and is now looking to recruit a talented Senior Footwear/Trainer Designer to join their team. The successful candidate will have experience working for a luxury trainer/footwear brand and be eager to join a creative and ambitious team.

The candidates will be responsible for creating and developing innovative, stylish, and high-quality footwear designs that align with the brand's identity and target market. This role involves research, design development, technical drawing, sample creation, and collaboration with internal teams and external overseas manufacturers and suppliers.

The brand is based in Wales, and they are open to helping candidates relocate to the city.

Responsibilities:
  • Design Development: Create and develop original footwear designs, including sketches, technical drawings, and CAD models.
  • Trend Research: Stay updated on the latest fashion trends, materials, and technologies in the footwear industry.
  • Sample Creation: Oversee the creation of samples and prototypes, working closely with overseas manufacturers and technical teams to ensure design integrity.
  • Technical Drawings: Develop detailed technical specifications and drawings for production.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the design team, product managers, and sourcing teams to ensure designs align with the brand's vision and commercial goals.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and assess the quality of finished products, making design adjustments as needed.
  • Budget Management: Be aware of costs and timescales for production and ensure designs are within budget.
  • Materials Selection: Research and select appropriate materials, fabrics, and trims for footwear designs.
Education & Experience:
  • A degree or diploma in Footwear Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in footwear design, preferably with experience in the luxury or premium footwear market.
  • Strong proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, SketchUp, or other CAD software.
Skills:
  • Excellent sketching, drawing, and technical drawing skills, with a strong understanding of footwear construction.
  • A passion for fashion and design.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
