Job Description:

We are currently working with one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary professional practices specialising in the built environment, as they look to add a Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to their division in Bedford.

The company is an employee-owned multi-disciplinary built environment practice integrating residential and commercial architecture, engineering, planning and surveying for all development needs.

Their strength lies in their expertise and knowledge gained over almost 60 years in the built environment across three offices in Bedford, Birmingham and London by their 80-strong team.

Core Responsibilities:
  1. Working on various residential and non-residential projects around the UK, from small private developers to national house builders and master planning schemes.
  2. Liaise and communicate with Clients, third party consultants/council officers and attend meetings where required.
  3. Liaise and communicate with the wider engineering team.
  4. Assist with management of a team and/or manage the team itself.
  5. Manage own workload/deadlines and run own projects.
  6. Use CAD (Microstation desirable).
  7. Use drainage & 3D design software such as Flow and PDS respectively, to model drainage networks and produce road designs/ground models.
  8. Undertake due diligence and feasibility reviews of potential sites.
  9. Prepare submission packs for planning (Outline/Detail/Full).
  10. Complete technical design submissions (S38/S/S) through to approval.
  11. Complete groundworks packages for tender/construction.
  12. Produce private engineering designs for on-plot civils works (desirable).
  13. Understand the planning process and associated documents (e.g. Flood Risk Assessments).
Person Specification:
  1. Relevant degree level education (desirable).
  2. Proficient knowledge of UK Drainage/Flood Risk.
  3. Proficient knowledge of Client & Local Authority standards/requirements.
  4. Proficient with Microdrainage/Flow, Microstation/AutoCAD, Causeway PDS.
  5. Proficient with Microsoft software (Word/Excel etc).
Experience:
  1. Proven experience with the preparation of technical submissions (S38/S/S).
  2. Experience of preparing engineering drawings supporting planning submissions (desirable).
  3. Experience with private plot work design (desirable).
  4. Experience with earthwork designs (desirable).
  5. Evidence of communication skills, confident with client/third party interaction.
  6. Experience of team management.
