Job description

My client, a world-renowned, sector-leading Multidisciplinary Consultancy, is currently searching for a Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to join their growing team of specialist consultants in the charming, historical city of Wrexham, North Wales.

Essential Criteria:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Management, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of producing Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs)
  • Experience of flood risk modelling and/or developing Water Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), in a consultancy setting
  • Knowledge of developing Drainage Strategies and drainage design, including an awareness of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and the Approving Body (SAB) in Wales
  • Good working knowledge of the relevant design softwares, including AutoCAD, Causeway Flow, MicroDrainage, InfoWorks, etc.
  • Awareness of relevant Geographical Information Systems (GIS), e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the relevant Section Agreements, including S104, S106, etc.

It would also be beneficial for applicants for the role of Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to possess the following:

  • Some experience of providing support in project management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical skills and an analytical mindset
  • Chartered Status, or actively working to attain this

In your varied new role of Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant, you will join a growing team of experts in the field, with a view to developing and refining your knowledge and skills as you progress through your career. The role will involve a number of exciting responsibilities, including:

  • Overseeing the completion of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Flood Consequence Assessments (FCAs) across a range of projects
  • Designing a number of complex Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Drainage Strategies
  • Successfully submitting proposals to SAB with the relevant Local Authorities in Wales
  • Overseeing Flood Investigations in respect of Section 19
  • Managing the preparation of feasibility studies and supporting drawings
  • Providing leadership and mentorship to other colleagues within the team
  • Leading projects from conception through to successful delivery, adhering to tight deadlines and budgets, and producing work to the highest of standards
  • Establishing and managing a range of stakeholder and client relations
