Job summary

AALTO, a global aerospace leader and Airbus subsidiary, is seeking a Senior Flight Physics Engineer for the Zephyr HAPS platform in Farnborough. You will shape performance, stability and safe operation across aerodynamics, flight dynamics, control laws and flight loads.

You will work at the interface of analysis, design, software and certification, ensuring robust solutions and certification-ready evidence for flight physics capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree or Master’s in Aerospace or related discipline.
• Experience in flight dynamics, stability and control or GNC in safety-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of aircraft stability, aerodynamics and control theory.
• Proficient with MATLAB/Simulink for modelling and analysis.
• Experience defining requirements and producing technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead flight physics requirements and traceability from needs to verification.
• Develop flight control laws and GNC architectures for autonomous flight.
• Identify failure modes and contingency strategies for safety.
• Translate engineering intent into software and system requirements.
• Manage interfaces across onboard systems and disciplines.
• Plan and support flight tests for envelope expansion and validation.
• Build and run flight dynamics models using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Analyse flight test telemetry and simulations to drive actions.
• Provide technical leadership within work packages and manage risk.
• Collaborate with software, avionics, systems and test teams.
