Job summary

Callen-Lenz in Bristol seeks a Senior Flight Control Engineer to lead development of flight control and simulation software across projects. You will guide software teams, ensure requirements are met, and liaise with stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires expertise in control theory, aeronautics, and software design, with hands-on MATLAB/Simulink experience and a track record of leadership in engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing and documenting control systems.
• Deep understanding of aeronautics and control theory.
• Considerable experience of designing and documenting software.
• Experience using MATLAB & Simulink.
• Knowledge of a variety of programming languages and tools.

Responsibilities

• Model-based design of flight control software using Simulink or similar.
• Lead the design and maintenance of autopilot simulation software.
• Coordinate and contribute to flight performance studies.
• Development of flight dynamics models for company products.
• Oversee and coach team members in the use of related software development tools.
• Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to define software requirements.
• Review software source code and model designs.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
• Lead test and test recording to ensure correct operation of software and that requirements are met.
• Lead the software team within individual projects to deliver activities to agreed cost and schedule.
• Support the Project Manager in scoping, defining and estimating project tasks.
• Perform other duties where required.
