Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Flight Integration Engineer to bridge R&D and deployment for unmanned aircraft autonomy. You will integrate autonomy software onto UAS, oversee flight-ready builds, and support live flight operations in fast-paced test environments.

Applicants should have strong C++/Python skills, RTOS and Linux experience, and a background in sensor fusion and middleware frameworks. Travel up to 40% may be required in defense-related settings.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of related experience (or 4y with PhD).
• Proficient in C++ and Python; RTOS familiarity.
• Linux-based development; embedded systems; shell scripts.

Responsibilities

• Integrate autonomy software onto unmanned aircraft systems across compute, sensors, and control interfaces.
• Own build, configuration, and validation for flight-ready systems; ensure mission readiness.
• Provide on-site flight test support, safety checks, and troubleshooting under time constraints.
• Diagnose and resolve integration issues across autonomy software stacks and embedded systems.
• Manage flight data capture and post-test analysis with autonomy engineers for improvements.
• Collaborate with autonomy, GNC, systems, and test teams to ensure reliability and timely delivery.
