Job description

Due to an internal promotion within our field engineering team, we are seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and career-minded individual to join us as a senior engineer, providing life safety system engineering services to a wide selection of blue-chip and public sector organizations.

This individual will demonstrate their existing technical and process skills while gaining a thorough understanding of how fire systems operate to meet the exacting requirements of our customers. Our engineering team is at the forefront of everything we do.

Initially, the role involves working fully supervised to learn how to deliver various life safety system engineering works, as directed by the office and field management team, in accordance with industry standards and our procedures. Upon competency assessment, the responsibilities include delivering maintenance, fault finding, repairs, small modifications, and additions to life safety systems, as directed.

The role also involves participating in the company's emergency support rota (typically one week in five) and providing field repair works in accordance with industry standards and procedures. Accurate electronic reporting must be maintained in line with company procedures and British Standard statutory requirements. Continuous personal development through theoretical and practical training is encouraged.

The candidate must always present themselves professionally, given the importance of our customers.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Fluent in English, ideally as a first language
  • Fully accepting of role requirements as outlined in the employee questionnaire
  • Highly motivated, punctual, and smart
  • Logical thinker, able to follow instructions and methodologies
  • Strong desire to learn and retain knowledge
  • Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Safe, confident, and willing driver with a full valid UK driving license (max 3 penalty points)
  • At least 3 years of experience in maintaining, fault-finding, modifying, extending, and commissioning various life safety systems
  • Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Interest in electrical/electronic engineering
  • Desire to learn and develop new skills, aiming for high performance and career progression
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • FIA and/or IFEDA competency course passes in fire alarm design, maintenance, installation, and commissioning
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements for working on life safety equipment such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, voice alarms, and fire extinguishers
  • Experience working with equipment from manufacturers like Gent, Advanced Electronics, Apollo, Hochiki, Kentec, Baldwin Boxhall, MultiIfax, Siemens, GFE, C-tec, Intak, Protec, Notifier, Morley IAS
  • Experience in preparing detailed Word and Excel documents with high attention to detail
