Senior Life Safety System Engineer

Due to an internal promotion within our field engineering team, we are seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and career-minded individual to join us as a senior engineer, providing life safety system engineering services to a wide range of blue-chip and public sector organizations.

This individual will demonstrate their existing technical and process skills while gaining a thorough understanding of how fire systems are required to operate to meet the exacting requirements of our customers. Our engineering team is at the forefront of our operations.

Responsibilities

  1. Initially work fully supervised, learning to deliver various life safety system engineering works as directed by the office and field management teams, in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
  2. Upon competency assessment, deliver various life safety system engineering works (maintenance, fault finding, repairs, small modifications, and additions) as directed.
  3. Participate in the company emergency support rota (typically one week in five) and provide field repair works following industry standards and procedures.
  4. Accurately complete electronic reports in line with company procedures and statutory requirements.
  5. Continuously improve personal work skills through theoretical and practical training, including external industry-regulated courses.
  6. Maintain professional conduct appropriate to the nature and importance of our customers.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English, ideally as a first language.
  • Fully accept our outlined role requirements as set out in the prospective employee questionnaire.
  • Highly motivated, punctual, and well-presented.
  • Logical thinker, able to follow instructions and methodologies.
  • Strong desire to learn and retain knowledge.
  • Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Safe, confident driver with a full valid UK driving license and a maximum of 3 penalty points.
  • At least 3 years of experience maintaining, fault-finding, modifying, extending, and commissioning various life safety systems.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Interest in electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Desire to learn and develop new skills, aiming for high performance and career progression.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FIA and/or IFEDA competency course passes in fire alarm design, maintenance, installation, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements for working on life safety equipment such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, voice alarms, and fire extinguishers.
  • Experience working with equipment from manufacturers like Gent, Advanced Electronics, Apollo, Hochiki, Kentec, Baldwin Boxhall, MultiIfax, Siemens, GFE, C-tec, Intak, Protec, Notifier, Morley IAS.
  • Experience in document writing with high attention to detail in Word and Excel.
