Job summary

Jacobs in the UK is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer to shape safety strategies across major infrastructure and complex buildings in Manchester or London. Lead technical delivery, mentor engineers and grow a centre of excellence within a global engineering portfolio.

You will review fire strategies, engage clients and authorities, and drive bid leadership to expand our fire life safety footprint while delivering across diverse sectors.

Qualifications

• Chartered professional with the Institute of Fire Engineers (CEng/MIFireE) or near Chartership.
• Experience delivering fire engineering design on major infrastructure or complex buildings.
• Strong leadership track record and ability to grow a hub of excellence.
• Experience leading fire engineering in projects with client negotiation and mentoring skills.
• Knowledge of fire safety engineering within MEP environments and risk assessment.
• Familiarity with UK fire codes and regulations (NFPA, IBC/IFC).

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of fire engineering solutions across major infrastructure and complex buildings.
• Provide technical leadership and review fire strategies for performance-based design.
• Build relationships with clients, contractors and authorities as a trusted advisor.
• Manage project programmes, quality, and technical delivery while mentoring junior engineers.
• Support business growth through client engagement, proposals and bid leadership.
