Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer for the Fintech team to design and operate billing infrastructure that underpins usage metering, subscriptions, invoicing, payments, and revenue recognition.

You will help rebuild critical parts of the billing platform to scale with products like AI and Zero Trust, leading projects from inception to production while ensuring financial accuracy as Cloudflare grows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems or backend services in production.
• Proficiency in Go with interest in Go-heavy environments.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, security, and API standards (OpenAPI/OAuth/JWT).
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Experience designing secure, highly available microservices on Linux/Unix.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and project ownership skills.

Responsibilities

• Build Billing Systems: design, develop, and operate microservices for metering, subscriptions, invoicing, payments, and financial workflows.
• Own Projects End to End: drive initiatives from requirements through deployment and operation.
• Ensure Accuracy and Reliability: create fault-tolerant systems handling retries, concurrency, and high transaction volumes.
• Maintain Operational Excellence: monitor services, investigate issues, and improve observability.
• Shape Technical Direction: participate in architecture reviews and raise engineering standards across the billing platform.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: work with Product, Finance, Accounting, Support, and other teams to translate business needs into solutions.
