This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.

Role Purpose:

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Fine Art & Specie Underwriter to join our London Market Syndicate and Company team. This role is pivotal in expanding our account in alignment with syndicate and company plans while ensuring bottom-line underwriting profitability. You will also assist in expanding our product range to position Everest as a market leader, particularly in the Umbrella and Excess arenas.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Assist in expanding the Fine Art & Specie account.
  • Develop new products to enhance competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with the underwriting team to execute a marketing plan.
  • Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the preparation of business plans, statistics, and documentation.
  • Stay updated on underwriting, regulation, and compliance changes.
  • Client Engagement:

  • Represent Everest at meetings and visits with brokers, producers, and coverholders.
  • Maintain and expand broker relationships, and develop new ones aligned with business objectives.
  • Risk Management:

  • Refer risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority.
  • Liaise with the Claims Manager on claims-related issues.
  • Operational Excellence:

  • Participate in account and portfolio reviews.
  • Contribute to the analysis and review of underwriting practices and procedures.
  • Key Accountabilities:

    Underwriting Strategy:

  • Formulate and execute underwriting strategy in the London marketplace with the Head of Fine Art & Specie.
  • Underwrite in compliance with Lloyd’s and Everest standards.
  • Product Development:

  • Assist in the improvement of rating models, underwriting manuals, and marketing materials.
  • Develop growth strategies and coordinate underwriting between Everest offices.
  • Market Analysis:

  • Participate in underwriting peer reviews.
  • Complete and review strategic underwriting guidelines and pricing models.
  • Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain sound relationships internally and externally.
  • Support business travel requirements to achieve objectives.
  • Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Fine Art & Specie underwriting or broking in the London Market.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze trends and determine opportunities and threats.
