Job summary

AIG is seeking a PI Underwriter to contribute to the UK portfolio within the Financial Lines underwriting team. You’ll apply your underwriting knowledge to large UK clients and SME volume-based digital solutions, while engaging with brokers to secure quality business.

You will work in a collaborative office environment in Manchester, with exposure to renewal and new business, regulatory compliance, and a strong focus on client service and profitability.

Qualifications

• Proven PI underwriting experience is preferred; other relevant professional experience may substitute for underwriting experience with a track record in renewal and new business
• Strong communication skills
• Time management - ability to handle multiple priorities, organise work and meet deadlines
• A desire to learn and grow your knowledge in this dynamic area of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Meet individual underwriting expectations to help team achieve budgeted financial objectives.
• Underwrite within agreed decision-making standards, limitations, and underwriting authority
• Assess desirability of risk through analysis of financial reports and accounts (as required); regular contact with broker; thorough review of proposal; and review of claims history and general company information
• Use designated Underwriting system(s) to streamline underwriting and information-tracking approach across Profit Centre.
• Input required data consistently and accurately.
• Provide Management information including, but not limited to, submissions, bind rate, average premium, and total premium as required.
• Provide excellent service to brokers through consistent, timely, and proactive approach to underwriting
• Exhibit sales orientated behaviours, defined by Management as: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable
• Generate new business by building on existing relationships and expanding broker network, attending broker events, market meetings, client 1 to 1’s and building new relationships across the market
• Support and contribute to the PI underwriting strategy within the UK regions portfolio.
• Maintain key renewal accounts at greater than 85% retention
• Ensure all brokers and clients are treated fairly
• Ensure customer-centric approach

• Conduct self-audit as required
• Ensure compliance with key regulatory and risk management responsibilities
