Senior Financial Institutions Underwriter

We are recruiting for a Senior Financial Institutions Underwriter to join our GCS team in London!

This position will suit a motivated and professional individual who is keen to progress their career within a market leading insurer.

A bit about the job:

The successful individual will be underwriting Financial Institutions insurance lines, such as Directors and Officers Insurance, Financial Institutions Crime and Bankers Blanket Bonds, Financial Institutions Professional Indemnity and Employment Practices Liability insurance, which are the main products in the Financial Institutions insurance suite.

Within this role, you will be responsible for underwriting renewals and new business in line with Global Corporate and Specialty (GCS) strategy, and in line with agreed delegated underwriting authority limits. You will be confident when conversing with stakeholders both internally and externally to deliver business objectives.

You will liaise with key stakeholders from our broker panel, along with leading technical conversations with our clients – so strong communication skills and time management will be important to this role.

You will also take part (in conjunction with the U/W Manager and Head of FI) in the training, education and development of team members.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • In-depth knowledge of Financial Institutions and related products, such as Directors and Officers Insurance, Financial Institutions Crime and Bankers Blanket Bonds, Financial Institutions Professional Indemnity and Pension Trustee Liability, Public Offering of Securities insurance and Employment Practices Liability insurance (policies & cover)

  • Competent in the structuring and placement of complex insurance programs and tailored wordings for niche and larger risks

  • Be interested in business and the macro-economic environment

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to drive business growth

  • Experience training, mentoring and guiding members of staff
