Hitachi ZeroCarbon has multiple programmes and projects in the pipeline that will need to be delivered and managed across our decarbonisation business for fleet and commercial transport, including energy management.
What you’ll be doing
The role of Senior Financial Controller has been created to support the Head of Finance in managing the financial operations of the Finance function whilst playing a critical role in driving financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making within the business. The Senior Financial Controller will report to the Head of Finance, and will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the finance function, including AR and AP activities and the preparation of management and statutory accounts whilst assisting with commercial deal modelling, budgeting and forecasting activities, and working with key stakeholders across the business to enable the Hitachi ZeroCarbon business to achieve their strategic mission, goals and growth plans.
Managing of the daily Finance function daily operations, including AR, AP, purchasing, VAT, cash management and business support activities.
Managing all month-end, quarter and year end procedures and processes across accounting, reporting, and compliance.
Preparing monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and financial regulations; including tax, audit and IFRS15 revenue and cost recognition processes.
Providing insights into working capital, including cash flow, accrued revenue, and debtors, to maintain financial stability.
Continuing development of Hitachi ZeroCarbon ERP system Sage Intacct; building out reports and maximising system functionality, including project time-reporting.
Ensuring accurate and timely reporting and submission of information to local and Hitachi group teams.
Coordinating and updating forecasts and budgets in line with the business plan, ensuring accuracy of planning data in finance systems.
Provide insightful reporting and commentary to support storytelling and ensuring the cost base is understood by functional leads, enabling and supporting the management and decision making within their respective functions.
Identify and evaluating risks and opportunities, driving actions to mitigate or enhance performance.
Providing financial analysis for all commercial projects, supporting Sales and Commercial teams with bidding, deal modelling; working through deal pricing structure and options to ensure profitability and strategic business alignment.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives and efficiencies across finance operations, developing and implementing robust financial controls, policies, and procedures.
Playing a key role in cross-functional teams, building relationships and counselling stakeholders on financial risk, leading discussions on deal commercials in a user-friendly and pragmatic manner.
Providing financial modelling, scenario analysis, and trend forecasting to support the Head of Finance in commercial decision-making.
Supporting and deputising for the Head of Finance as required.
What you bring to the team
We’re looking for a team player, who is motivated by delivering great work and the Hitachi vision. The role will be a mixture of remote-hybrid work with once a week in office (Broadgate Tower, 20 Primrose Street, EC2A 2EW).
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and background:
Financial qualification in ACCA, ACA, or CIMA am significant post qualification experience.
Proven experience of managing a Finance function and its operations, including AP, AR and order to cash end to end processes.
Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, management accounting, statutory reporting, and complex financial analysis.
Experience in complex deal modelling and the provision of commercial and pricing support to Sales and bidding teams.
Experience of managing and operating compliant ERP systems, including the development of reporting, and identifying best practice improvements to support the business and its users.
Experience in creation and development of processes, compliance, and policies; and a demonstrable record of taking the lead in diagnosing business and operational issues and delivering performance improvements.
High attention to detail and ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work under pressure and at pace, strong at problem-solving and critical thinking, business, and financial acumen.
Exceptional negotiation and risk management skills, ability to operate at multiple levels up to Board level and including with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Strong proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, ERP systems).
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, listening, influencing and presentation skills, ability to work and communicate in a diverse global organisation.
Demonstrated ability to influence teams including remote workers, willingness to travel occasionally.
Experience of working in project/consulting and software businesses preferred.
Team player, with cultural awareness and curiosity, willing to work with other functions and members across the global Hitachi group.
