Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Accountant within the Development segment financial accounts team is responsible for reporting the actual results of certain developments and legal entities within the Development segment on a quarterly basis, both internally and to JV parties. The role involves interaction with multiple stakeholders internally and externally, including development debt and JV parties.

The Development segment encompasses the development and construction elements of the wider CWG business. The Group currently has over £2bn of construction activity and a pipeline including more than 500k square feet NIA of commercial properties and over 2,300 new homes for sale and rent. The team is responsible for initial development activities, land bank analysis, and design scheme considerations. The Construction Group manages the build of projects, contractors, and on-site activities.

The role will support the finance team in ensuring an efficient quarterly close process for shareholder reporting, interim and year-end statutory financial reporting, and the provision of high-quality management information, analysis, and insights.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure quarterly segment reporting is accurate and meets the Group’s deadlines. Responsible for reporting actual results of developments and legal entities within the Development segment, including detailed reviews and support schedules.
  2. Prepare management accounts for joint venture partners, including consolidations, review funding requirements, and facilitate equity calls.
  3. Engage with tax, legal, and development finance on restructuring, debt deals, and transactions. Prepare accounting papers for transaction treatments.
  4. Reconcile costs incurred to construction and development cash flows and finance drawdowns.
  5. Deliver UK GAAP or IFRS compliant annual financial statements within deadlines, coordinate with auditors, and handle audit queries.
  6. Ensure intercompany billings are up-to-date, coordinate with tax on cash flow impacts.
  7. Manage a financial accountant, including performance management and development.
  8. Identify and implement system and process improvements.
  9. Assist in applying new accounting standards, including FRS 102 and IFRS.
  10. Perform other finance tasks as required.

What We Require of You:

  1. Must be ACA or ACCA qualified with at least 2 years post-qualified experience, ideally in development/construction industry financial accounting.
  2. Good understanding of accounting standards, including UK GAAP, FRS 102, IFRS, and Companies Act requirements relevant to the industry.
  3. Excellent IT skills; advanced MS Excel. Experience with Yardi and CaseWare is advantageous.
  4. Energetic, passionate, self-starter, willing to challenge norms and explore new methods.
  5. Strong attention to detail, adaptable, able to own tasks and responsibilities.
  6. Highly organized with excellent time management skills; capable of working under pressure and managing priorities effectively.
