Great opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join this award-winning listed Real Estate investor on a one-year maternity cover basis. This is a varied and commercial role within a bright and friendly finance team, where you will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of work.
Salary: To £85k plus benefits (discretionary bonus, pension, healthcare, 4 x salary life assurance etc)
Location: West End offices - 4 days in office, 1 from home
THE COMPANY
Leading investor in primary healthcare accommodation across the UK & Ireland. The company owns 517 properties valued at over £2.8 billion and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. The business has a team of circa 60 employees based at their central London offices and Stratford-upon-Avon, with a further 30 employees in Ireland.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Finance Director, this is an opportunity to join a small, bright, and friendly team. The team has seen very little turnover in the past few years, which is a testament to the happy environment the business has created. The Finance Director is really willing to let people work in new areas and genuinely cares about giving people the chance to learn new skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Treasury management, preparing quarterly forecasts, variance analysis, and completing other statutory and tax obligations.
- Preparing analytical reviews of the financial results and Key Performance Indicators.
- Managing the budgeting process, particularly populating and updating the financial projections model and monitoring against actual performance.
- Assisting the team with detailed quarterly and ad-hoc reviews of control accounts to ensure they are up to date.
- Dealing with external auditors for year-end and interim accounts, including preparing going concern, viability, and areas of judgement papers.
- Preparation of Board papers.
- Debt workings, including IFRS 9 analysis and any associated hedging documentation updates.
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end and interim group financial statements.
- Preparing tax workings and quarterly analysis.
- Business partnering with development and asset management teams to report on costs to complete and input into the valuation.
- Reviewing quarterly and half-yearly bank covenant reports.
- Day-to-day management of debt facilities including consent process.
- Opportunity to be involved in several debt refinances.
- Help manage the day-to-day treasury aspects of the business, ensuring the most efficient use of deposit funds, cash sweeping, and many online banking platforms.
TAX
- Responsible for all relevant taxation matters for the REIT and Irish business including corporation tax and IREF submissions, CIS, SDLT, and applicable capital allowances.
- Manage the process for tax compliance and advice, liaising with tax advisors as necessary.
YOU
- Qualified Accountant with several years of industry experience, ideally within a real estate business with understanding of development projects.
- Curious and inquisitive and not afraid to ask questions.
- Have an eye for detail, probably with an audit background.
- Experience of the latest developments in reporting standards.
- An existing knowledge of real estate taxes including SDLT, VAT, and capital allowances.
- Will inherently want to get things right and will not cut corners.
