About the job

Preparation of the periodic financial accounts, and all aspects of financial reporting including statutory reporting and other reporting. Responsible for application of accounting standards and compliance with Group accounting manuals. External Audit.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Line Management

  • Working closely with all team members to ensure successful achievement of objectives and to enhance and develop the team's overall capabilities and expertise.

Financial Reporting

Statutory Reporting

  • Responsible for managing the preparation of the Statutory Accounts.
  • Responsible for managing the preparation of the Annual Audited Accounts Reconciliation.
  • Responsible for managing the preparation of the ALAE group reporting submissions.

Other Reporting

  • Responsible for managing the preparation of ORR Levy Reporting.
  • Responsible for managing the preparation of the Office for National Statistics reporting.
  • Responsible for managing the preparation of the Rosco Quarterly Financial Information.

Accounting Standards

  • Responsible for ensuring that SWR Group Reporting financials are prepared in accordance FRH Accounting Standards
  • Responsible for ensuring that SWR Statutory Accounts are prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standard

Accounting Judgements

  • Responsible for ensuring that appropriate support is provided for accounting judgements and that judgemental areas are reviewed and updated every quarter.

Financial Accounting

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

  • Responsible for review of the balance sheet reconciliations assigned.

External Audit

  • Main point of contact for the External Audit
  • Manage the External Audit process including preparation for and monitoring of delivery to deadlines

Other

  • Guide and assist the business on compliance with and implementation of Financial Policies.
  • Manage the preparation of Business Plan Commitment tracker and reporting to stakeholders.
  • Supplementary reports and ad-hoc analysis requests.

About you:

  • Fully Qualified accountant with significant PQE in a similar role
  • Sound financial accounting experience and people management
  • A self-starter with finance experience
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication
  • Effective and proven negotiation skills with ability to influence decision
  • Confident in Excel, Word and SAP/SAP BI/SAP BPC an
  • Qualified Accountant CIMA &/or

About the location

South Western Railways HQ is based on the 4th Floor at South Bank Central, a stone's throw from the River Thames and a 10 minute walk fromour busiest station, Waterloo. It is local to many well-known attractions, restaurants and retail facilities and is easily accessible by public transport.

Working pattern

You will work an average of 37 hours per week, typically, office hours, Monday to Friday.
