Job Description
The purpose of this job is to ensure efficient accounting deliveries for month-end closing to Statkraft Group and to local authorities (e.g.: statutory reporting) are completed within deadlines and in compliance with policies and regulations applied.
Support Finance Manager in IFRS and accounting standard discussions and assessments, ensuring the books for the legal entities Global Business Services Unit Reporting UK is responsible for following regulations.
- Perform period-end closing activities e.g. process and approve manual accounting journals
- Perform period-end closing technical activities in SAP in line with Finance Manual e.g. FX evaluations, run cycles, run settlements, depreciation run
- Perform and review balance account reconciliations in the reconciliation systems (Blackline)
- Document internal controls according to Statkraft guidelines and document them in the internal control system BWise
- Prepare IFRS report to group in the Statkraft Group consolidation tool
- Review reported financial figures prepared by GBS Unit Reporting team.
- Prepare Statutory Accounts according to local UK GAAP and in agreement with Finance Manager
- Present and explain the accounts to Finance Manager or any other internal or external stakeholders, if required.
- Manage G/L accounts
- Contribute in continuous improvement of accounting processes
- Coordinate deliverables from outsourced accounting services (when applicable)
- Review and approve VAT returns
- If required, write IFRS and local GAAP technical accounting papers / memorandums, in agreement with the Finance Manager
- Keep accounting books for all legal entities under Unit Reporting team responsibility updated in terms of IFRS, local standards and tax requirements.
- Support on delivering on services under the mandate of Unit Reporting, such as ad-hoc accounting reports or requests from internal or external stakeholders
- Provide evidence and explanations to external auditors allowing them to complete the audit work efficiently
- Contribute for increase in efficiency and accuracy in the entity financial reporting processes
The Senior Financial Accountant is expected to have a high level of interaction with:
- All members of GBS Unit Reporting
- Finance Managers
- Business Partners
- All FR departments’ members
- External auditors
- Group Tax
- Company Co-secs
- Any other person inside or outside of the organisation that is a customer, involved in the process, or provider of information to Unit Reporting UK.
Qualifications
- Certified/qualified accountant, ACA/ACCA is an advantage
- Experience within accounting or financial reporting
- Experience with IFRS reporting and good understanding of different concepts within local UK and FRS101 reporting
- Experience with ERPs, preferably SAP (FI/CO), consolidation software and Workiva
- Experience working in multi-national organisations
- Experience with preparing statutory accounts for UK-based companies
- Good understanding of business process for the renewables sector
- Good knowledge of Group Reporting requirements
- Good knowledge about Shared service organisations
- Good knowledge on Corporate Income Tax and VAT for UK based companies.
