The Role:
As Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and insightful management reporting and supporting financial planning processes. Working closely with the Head of Financial Reporting, CFO, and operational managers, this role will contribute to the effectiveness of financial planning and performance reporting activities, ensuring timely, consistent, and business-relevant financial insight across the Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Management Accounts and Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts for Group and divisional entities
• Perform detailed variance analysis with high-quality financial commentary
• Support development of management reporting packs for internal stakeholders
• Assist with preparation of materials for Board and committee reporting
Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting:
• Support development and consolidation of annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and long-term plans
• Engage with business units to gather inputs and validate planning assumptions
• Prepare financial models and scenario analyses for forward-looking planning
• Help ensure alignment of actual performance with strategic goals
Month-End and Financial Close Activities:
• Prepare journal entries and adjustments for accurate revenue and cost recognition
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of key accounts
• Collaborate with finance team to meet month-end timetable requirements
• Maintain documentation for audit trail and internal control purposes
Business Partnering and Insight:
• Work closely with operational teams to understand performance drivers and trends
• Provide actionable financial insight to support operational decision-making
• Translate financial data into accessible language for non-finance stakeholders
• Support finance colleagues in resolving queries and validating reported numbers
Process Improvement and Systems Support:
• Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes
• Support development of financial models, templates, and reporting tools
• Assist with data quality and integrity checks across financial systems
• Participate in finance systems upgrades when required

Who We're Looking For:
• Qualified Accountant with knowledge of UK GAAP, Solvency II, and insurance accounting practices
• Understanding of insurance products, accounting for premiums, claims, reserves, and reinsurance (preferred)
• Experience in management accounts and planning processes
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced) and financial software systems
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Team player willing to collaborate across departments
Location: Based in UK with presence in London office required 1 day per week and regular travel expected across Group Offices
