Job description
Overview

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Financial Accountant to support the Chief Accountant on a wide range of technical financial matters. This is a senior role with responsibility for delivering the Council's Statement of Accounts, managing the Treasury Management function, overseeing capital accounting and returns, and leading on bank reconciliations and financial controls.

You will take ownership of the asset register and the Council's Capital Programme, from budget setting and monitoring to year-end accounting, ensuring full compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements. We are seeking a qualified accountant (CCAB) with strong technical expertise in financial accounting, in depth knowledge of Local Authority Finance and a solid understanding of IFRS and the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting in the UK. You\'ll have proven expertise in financial systems, legislation, and organisational financial management, along with an appreciation of the information and resource needs of senior managers and elected Members.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a high-profile role with significant responsibility and the chance to make a real impact on the Council\'s financial operations. You will be part of a supportive and professional team committed to delivering high standards of financial management.
