Job summary

Qualifications

• Understanding of accounting principles and their applicability to local government.
• Ability to use systems to produce financial information.
• Experience of providing financial analysis and option appraisals.
• Ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
• Financial and commercial awareness with strong analytical skills.
• Ability to assess risk whilst supporting services and strategic priorities.
• Ability to communicate to colleagues from other disciplines.
• Understanding of local government challenges and Nottingham City Council context.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely professional financial support, advice, and challenge to programmes, projects, and decisions.
• Ensure compliance with our financial policies, procedures, and controls.
• Support the completion of statutory and non-statutory returns, including grant claims.
• Produce audit working papers for assigned areas.
• Prepare corporate reconciliations for assigned areas.
• Promote correct use of the Chart of Accounts across the Council.
• Support managers in developing, updating and assessing budgets and MTFP assumptions.
