Senior Finance Officer - School in Blackpool

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Finance Officer to join a supportive school in Blackpool. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual to play a key role in the financial health and day-to-day operations of the school, directly contributing to its positive learning environment. The role is due to start as soon as possible, offering an immediate start for the successful candidate.



About the Role:

As the Senior Finance Officer, you'll be responsible for supporting the overall financial management of the school, ensuring its financial stability, efficiency, and compliance. You'll work closely with the Head Teacher, school business manager, and other senior leaders, providing essential financial support and overseeing various financial processes and reporting.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing aspects of the school's financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assisting with the development, implementation, and monitoring of the school's annual budget.
  • Preparing accurate and timely financial reports and data for management.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations, statutory requirements, and school policies.
  • Supporting payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to employment law.
  • Liaising with external auditors and other financial stakeholders as required.
  • Maintaining robust financial controls and procedures to safeguard school funds.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date financial records and systems.
  • Contributing to the efficient financial operations of the school.


About You:

We're looking for a highly experienced and proactive finance professional with a proven track record in financial administration or a similar finance role. Experience within a school environment is essential. You'll be detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Significant and demonstrable experience in a finance role, preferably within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and reporting requirements relevant to schools.
  • Proven experience in preparing financial data and reports.
  • Experience supporting payroll processes and understanding relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency in using finance software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel to an advanced level is essential).
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage a varied workload.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection regulations.
