Job description

Marshall Aerospace is seeking a commercially astute and technically strong Senior Finance Manager / Financial Controller to join our team.

This role leads a small team and oversees forecasting, reporting, and statutory compliance, while playing a key role in driving financial insight and accountability. It's a rare opportunity that combines hands-on operational ownership with strategic influence-supporting decision-making at the highest levels while ensuring strong processes, insightful analysis, and robust governance.

You'll partner with senior stakeholders across the business, provide oversight of international entities, and bring structure and clarity to complex data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Forecasting & Budgeting - Lead quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting cycles, consolidating inputs and challenging assumptions to ensure accuracy and robustness.
  • Cashflow Management - Own the group's weekly cashflow forecast, delivering clear, reliable short- and mid-term projections with actionable insights for the Finance Director.
  • FP&A Leadership - Provide value-added financial analysis, scenario modelling, and insights to drive performance improvement and cost control.
  • Monthly Reporting - Consolidate and present monthly management accounts and performance packs, highlighting key business drivers to senior leadership.
  • Statutory Reporting & Audit - Oversee statutory accounts preparation, coordinate audit deliverables, and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Balance Sheet & Fixed Assets - Ensure accurate reconciliations, control integrity, and oversight of fixed asset registers and processes.
  • Team Leadership - Manage and mentor a small team, fostering development and delivering high-quality outputs.
  • International Oversight - Lead the financial oversight of overseas entities, ensuring accurate consolidation into group reporting.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with other Senior Finance Managers to integrate FP&A, overheads, operations, and reporting seamlessly.

About You

We'd love to hear from you if you have most of the following:

  • Significant experience in a senior finance role with exposure to FP&A, management reporting, and statutory accounting-ideally within Aerospace, Defence, or a related manufacturing/engineering sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial performance drivers, with the ability to turn complex data into clear insights.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing small teams and driving processes under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong knowledge of UK statutory requirements and audit processes.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with the confidence to manage ambiguity and coordinate multiple stakeholders.

This is a dynamic role in a changing environment-we're looking for someone who thrives on challenge, takes initiative, and enjoys bringing clarity to complexity.

Benefits

  • 27 days holiday (increasing with service to 30) plus option to buy/sell
  • Hybrid working (approx. 3 days per week in Cambridge)
  • Pension contributions up to 9%
  • Private healthcare
  • Car allowance
  • Flexible benefits programme
  • Life assurance (4x basic salary)
  • Enhanced parental leave and pay
  • Paid volunteering leave
  • Access to market-leading wellbeing resources
