Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in our Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness sites.

Salary: £58,000 - £75,000 + Performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing

The Role

As Senior Finance Manager - Operations, you will take responsibility for leading a small team to deliver end-to-end finance support for the Operations directorate. This is a broad and varied role that combines business partnering, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), and financial control responsibilities. You will work closely with operational leadership teams, ensuring the financial performance of operational activities is well understood, controlled, and reported effectively.

This role will also collaborate with the wider Transmission Finance function, including Central FP&A, Regulatory Reporting, and Regulatory Finance teams, to contribute to BU-wide financial outputs and ensure alignment across all key deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team by setting clear objectives, providing direction, and overseeing financial control, FP&A, and business partnering activities for the Operations directorate.
  • Partner with Operations leadership as a trusted advisor, providing financial insight and challenge while building strong relationships to keep finance central to operational planning and performance improvement.
  • Deliver robust forecasts, budgets, and long-term financial plans for the Operations directorate, aligned with Transmission's objectives.
  • Oversee financial control activities, including month-end close, balance sheet management, compliance with group financial policies and procedures, whilst ensuring strong governance across all financial processes.
  • Collaborate with Central FP&A, Regulatory teams, and cross-functional finance initiatives to ensure aligned, efficient, and insightful financial processes across Transmission Finance.
Requirements
  • Over 5 years of Post Qualified Experience in financial control, FP&A, and business partnering, with a strong track record in senior finance roles, and hold a professional accounting qualification (CA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Experience managing and developing a finance team in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to deliver clear financial insights that drive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage and challenge senior leadership constructively.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to drive process improvements and change.
