Accounting and Finance Role

Are you passionate about accounting and eager to make a real impact? We're looking for a talented individual, ideally CCAB/CIMA qualified or nearing completion of a professional qualification. If you have extensive experience in accounting roles, a strong understanding of statutory accountancy frameworks, and solid accounting principles and techniques, we'd love to hear from you!

About you:

You will play a key role in shaping and coordinating detailed revenue and capital budgets, crucial for developing our service business plan and the overall annual budget for the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. You will manage a small team, providing financial advice and support to managers and colleagues within GMCA and partner organizations. This is your opportunity to contribute significantly to managing our revenue and capital budgets effectively.

• Ability to translate complex financial topics into simple terms for a broad audience, including non-finance backgrounds.
• Proficiency in software applications, systems, and tools, especially databases and spreadsheets.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.
• Focus and impartiality amidst multiple deadlines.
• CCAB/CIMA qualification or actively working towards it, supported by substantial accounting experience.
• Understanding of the statutory framework for accountancy, including familiarity with CIPFA Accounting Code of Practice for Local Government and the Accounts and Audit Regulations.
