Senior Finance Manager

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a high-profile infrastructure business, as they embark on a range of large-scale projects, to appoint a Senior Finance Manager. This position reports directly to the Finance Director and will be responsible for leading the team of Finance Business Partners, overseeing financial forecasting and reporting. The Senior Finance Manager will support the Finance Director in driving both the finance strategy and the overall business plan. This role will play a key part in capital forecasting, business case development, financial analysis, and maintaining strong financial governance. Additionally, the Senior Finance Manager will ensure effective cash collection, oversee sundry billing processes, and act as a deputy for the FD in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and develop the team of Finance Business Partners, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering a high-performance culture
• Drive engagement across the business to support ambitious growth targets
• Act as a key point of contact between the division and Group functions, driving strong professional relationships
• Assist the FD in setting and executing the financial strategy and contributing to the broader business plan
• Act as a key financial stakeholder in strategic decision-making processes

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Lead the quarterly forecasting process and in-period flash reporting, ensuring accurate and timely updates to leadership
• Own and oversee the monthly results reporting process, providing clear insights and recommendations
• Conduct financial analysis with the support of Finance Business Partners to drive commercial decisions
• Lead the capital forecasting process, ensuring accurate planning and alignment with business objectives
• Aid the FD in writing business cases to support investment and strategic initiatives

Financial Governance & Reporting

• Ensure timely collection of cash to minimize overdue debtors and optimise working capital
• Oversee the billing process for sundry items to maintain accuracy and completeness
• Own the balance sheet review process, ensuring robust financial controls and reconciliations
• Lead the year-end process and facilitate external audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy
• Act as deputy for the Finance Director during periods of absence, providing continuity in leadership and decision-making

Key Skills & Experience:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience
• Strong leadership experience, with a track record of developing and managing finance teams
• Proven ability to drive forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis to support commercial decisions
• Experience in capital planning and business case development
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage across the business
• Experience in cash flow management, credit control, and balance sheet governance
• Knowledge of audit processes and financial controls
• Commercial mindset with the ability to contribute to strategic discussions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
