Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Finance Controller to join a reputable construction company in Staffordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining robust financial controls. You will work closely with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and financial planning, providing insightful analysis to optimise business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance function, including management of accounts payable, receivable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Prepare and present accurate monthly management accounts, financial statements and performance reviews
  • Monitor project profitability, job costing and margin analysis
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, including VAT, PAYE and CIS submissions
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors and banking partners
  • Provide financial insight and strategic input to senior leadership team and support business planning and investment decisions

Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience as a Finance Controller or similar role within the construction
  • Strong understanding of project based accounting, CIS and construction contract financials
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting and accounting practices
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to analyse complex financial data and prepare detailed reports
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office applications
  • Relevant professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA is preferred
