The Finance team has an opportunity for a Senior Finance Business Partner in the North West.
About the Opportunity
The role will deliver a complete reporting and business partnering service for the Directorate. Provision of all monthly and annual reporting, with a focus on identifying business process and data quality improvements that will provide more accurate, informative, and timely MI. This will facilitate senior leadership discussions on performance, productivity, and efficiency initiatives.
The role will seek to improve the end-to-end reporting process (costs and volumes where appropriate), from initial data capture, system, and business processes, through to end stakeholder reporting.
The role will have a clear focus on developing a common understanding of performance, considering consequences to forecast periods, and identifying areas requiring further investigation/analysis, with the aim of supporting the leadership team in delivery of improved financial performance.
The role is a key part of the financial control structure of Electricity North-West. As such the role is responsible for ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of the financial results of the Directorate, providing analysis and explanation to the Directorate, and other senior stakeholders, whilst supporting delivery of all financial and regulatory requirements to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain effective reporting structures for activities to meet the needs of all stakeholders, from area managers to the Executive Leadership Team, helping to drive improved cost performance and a focus on key performance indicators.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial performance by individual areas.
- Provision of targeted and clear variance analysis and cost performance analysis, including identifying areas for management focus and recommendations.
- Identify areas of potential outperformance and provide analysis to support outperformance initiatives, including tracking of initiatives in delivery and monitoring of compliance levels.
- Work closely with the Finance Systems Manager to ensure systems and processes are fit for purpose to meet the information needs of the multiple users and allow process / reporting efficiencies.
- Responsible for draft Regulatory Reporting and budget for review by business owners / finance managers, with sensitivity analysis / scenarios.
- Work closely with the Business Planning & Financial Analysis Team to provide information required for the quarterly business forecasts and the annual Company Business Plan.
- Ensure that robust financial forecasting/budgeting activities are carried out in accordance with statutory and regulatory accounting rules.
- Ensure implementation of, and compliance, with corporate financial policies and processes.
- Work with non-financial colleagues to promote the understanding of financial, regulatory, and other reporting requirements, and an understanding of the regulatory contract and outperformance opportunities.
- Maintain and support the standards of Health and Safety as agreed across ENWL ensuring a safe working environment for our staff and customers.
- Contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.
- Managing risk in line with corporate policies and controls.
Who are we looking for- Preferably educated to degree level.
- Qualified accountant.
- Experience in business partnering/management accounting.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Drive for change and continuous improvement.
- Effective communication and influencing skills with both financial and non-financial colleagues.
- Strong financial reporting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines.
