Job description

Our client is a very successful London city-based accountancy firm looking to recruit a permanent Senior Assistant to join their Internal Finance team.

Salary:£40,000 + fantastic benefits package, 26 days holiday

Location:London City

Hybrid:From month 6 onwards working 2-3 days in the office.

Hours:9.30am to 5.30am Monday to Friday

Senior Assistant duties:

  • First point of contact for all internal finance queries from the firm's staff
  • Preparing monthly journals and assisting the Finance Team Manager with the month end process and reporting to the Operational Management Board
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Daily banking duties (posting daily transactions from online banking system into the firm's accounting software, maintain and reconcile the cashbook, distribute the daily banking report to the firm’s Partners and Managers)
  • Produce and distribute the monthly WIP and Aged Debt reports to partners and managers
  • Update monthly spend reports for departments and internal committees
  • Reconcile the monthly credit card statement, ensuring all receipts are collated
  • Generate and issue the quarterly payroll bills using CCH
  • Review staff expenses using the expense software system ensuring all are within policy, and uploading them to the firm’s accounting software for the weekly payment run
  • Oversee the purchase ledger function, ensuring supplier queries are resolved and supplier invoices are paid promptly in the weekly payment run
  • Assist the Finance Team Manager with the administration ofthe tax enquiry protection scheme
  • Provide cover for other team members if they are on annual leave

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Finance based qualification (e.g. fully qualified AAT or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA)
  • WIP experience is ideal
  • Ideally have worked in an accountancy practise or law firm
  • Previous experience in a mid-level, internal finance role
  • Good numeracy skills and understanding of accounting concepts
  • Previous experience assisting with the month end reporting process
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with VLOOKUP and SUMIF formulas
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Be a great team player
  • Ability to use your own initiative and be able to self-manage your workload
