A healthcare provider is looking for a compassionate Senior Family Support Worker to deliver emotional support to families facing childhood cancer. You will manage a small team, oversee caseloads, and coordinate hospital visits. The ideal candidate will possess experience in supervising staff and supporting families through challenging circumstances. This role requires strong communication skills and a relevant professional qualification.
Were looking for acompassionate and experienced Senior Family Support Worker to work alongsideour Family Support Managerin delivering emotional and practical, needs-led support to families facing childhood cancer or life-challenging condition.
Youll hold a smallcaseload of families while also supporting the smooth running of ourservicehelping to coordinate hospital visits, review caseloads, and ensurefamilies get the right help at the right time. Youll play a key role inbuilding strong relationships with hospital teams, supporting servicedevelopment, and deputising for the Family Support Manager.
This role covers managementof our caseload of families across London and Surrey, supporting familieslinked to our hospital partnerships including Kingston, Royal Marsden, StGeorges, Epsom, St Peters and Royal Surreywith the Evelina ChildrensHospital joining in the future.
We support familiesacross London, Surrey and Sussex whose children are facing cancer or alife-challenging condition. Were there whatever the outcome, for as long asneeded, so that no family has to cope alone.
Leadership& Team Support
Manage a team of Family SupportWorkers.
Oversee caseloads and conductmonthly reviews.
Ensure regular hospital visitsare co-ordinated and met as planned, adjusting in line with need.
Support the allocation ofreferrals across the team to make sure families receive timely and appropriatesupport.
Contribute to the recruitment,supervision, and development of Family Support Workers.
Deputise for the Family SupportManager when needed, including leading team meetings and taking minutes.
Participate in the weekendon-call rota.
Family SupportDelivery
Hold a small caseload,providing empathetic, non-judgemental emotional and practical, needs-led,support.
Plan and attend family events,working with external suppliers where needed.
Provide regular visits tonominated hospitals and ensure families are linked in with appropriate services.
Participate inmultidisciplinary meetings, safeguarding boards, and service planningdiscussions.
Hospital& Community Partnerships
Buildand maintain strong working relationships with hospital teams and communitypartners.
Maintainregular contact with paediatric teams to share patient updates and identify newneeds.
Deliverpresentations and training to raise awareness of Momentum.
Identify new partnership and referral opportunities in clinical andcommunity settings.
Support thetransition of hospital services from the Royal Marsden to Evelina LondonChildrens Hospital.
ServiceMonitoring & Development
Supportthe Family Support Manager in delivering service outcomes and contributing tooperational planning.
Assistin monitoring budgets and ensuring services align with the operational plan.
Maintainaccurate and timely records to support reporting requirements.
Providecase studies and updates to support fundraising and communications.
Organisational Contribution
