Job summary

UK Biobank Limited is seeking a Senior Facilities Officer to maintain and support our state-of-the-art Manchester facilities and critical systems. Based at Manchester Science Park, you will help ensure safe, reliable operations across a dynamic environment supporting world-leading health research.

You will work in a small, collaborative team, handling plant maintenance, fault diagnosis, and daily system checks, with out-of-hours support and occasional travel to other UK Biobank locations.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting complex facilities infrastructure and services.
• Demonstrable aptitude for using laboratory equipment and software.
• Experience working to recognised quality systems and strict health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work within a team and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Willingness and ability to travel between UK Biobank locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance of plant, emergency and security systems, including fault diagnosis and first-line repairs.
• Undertake daily checks of key systems, including sample storage temperatures, ensuring faults do not compromise sample integrity.
• Act as a point of contact for alarm activations, providing out-of-hours fire marshal and critical system support.
• Assist in managing permit-to-work and signing-in systems, ensuring contractors and visitors follow health and safety guidelines.
• Support day-to-day assessment and maintenance of onsite health and safety in line with management requirements.
