Job description

About the role

Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity. The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke. We are more than just an alliance, we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide. The Marine & Tunnels Programme includes the design, manufacture and installation of complex permanent and temporary fabricated steelwork, embedded components, lifting equipment and associated mechanical assemblies that support marine construction activities. These packages involve stringent nuclear quality requirements, demanding technical specifications and extensive manufacturing assurance throughout the fabrication lifecycle. The Senior Fabrication Engineer will play a key role in ensuring fabrication activities are executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with the project's exacting quality and programme requirements.

What you'll be doing

The Senior Fabrication Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the fabrication activities associated with major structural steel and mechanical fabrication packages within the Sizewell C Marine & Tunnels programme. Working as part of the Marine & Tunnels Fabrication Delivery Team, the role will be predominantly based at supplier manufacturing facilities (primarily within the UK) to provide continuous oversight of fabrication activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, to the required quality standards, in accordance with programme and contractual requirements. Reporting to the Package Manager, the Senior Fabrication Engineer will act as the primary engineering and delivery interface between the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), the fabricator, independent assurance bodies and the wider project team. The role provides technical leadership during manufacture while driving progress, managing quality compliance and ensuring timely resolution of engineering and production issues. This is a permanent position within the Sizewell C Civil Works Alliance
