Job description

As a Senior External Relationships Oversight Specialist VP, you'll provide data-led expert oversight and check and challenge on business and compliance matters to evidence that the organisation is operating in compliance with Barclays legal, regulatory, and ethical responsibilities. This is a high-impact role that enables the success of senior leaders by helping them navigate complex challenges, drive strategy, and meet regulatory and board-level expectations. You will work closely to manage risk and controls, collaborating with our CCO partner and procurement teams. You'll identify risks, educate teams on risk identification and mitigation, and ensure compliance with governance.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in risk management and identification, with exposure to first or second line defence risk.
  • Proven experience in supplier management or service management, ideally within financial services or another highly regulated environment.
  • Extensive experience in high-level stakeholder management and cross-functional team engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables, shifting priorities, and complex service change initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of the bank’s Risk framework, focusing on compliance, governance, and internal controls.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present insights for decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in producing high-impact reports for board-level audiences.
  • Experience supporting transformation and change projects within service management or financial operations.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a solutions-driven approach.

Purpose of the role

To provide data-led oversight and challenge on business and compliance matters, ensuring the organisation operates in line with Barclays' legal, regulatory, and ethical responsibilities.

Accountabilities:

  • Identify and assess compliance risks through reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing, and systems.
  • Investigate potential market abuse, including Insider Dealing, Unlawful Disclosure, Market Manipulation, or Anti-Competitive Conduct.
  • Conduct investigations of compliance risk events or breaches and oversee corrective actions.
  • Implement compliance policies aligned with regulatory requirements and international standards.
  • Collaborate with 1LOD, other Compliance teams, legal, and risk management functions.
  • Identify, investigate, and oversee potential money laundering, terrorist financing, or other financial crimes.
