Job summary

Capita plc is seeking a Senior Media & External Corporate Communications Manager to lead Capita’s external communications. The role is remote UK based with travel to London and other sites when required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in corporate communications within a PR agency, including media relations and issues management involving UK national and trade media.
• Journalism experience with understanding of how the media operates and what makes a good story.
• Experience of communications within the public sector or regulated industries is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Managing and responding to daily media enquiries, including high-profile or sensitive issues.
• Identifying reputational risks and coordinating with internal teams and agencies for handling and escalation.
• Developing reactive statements, lines to take, Q&A, and briefing materials for rapid responses.
• Providing advice to senior leaders and preparing spokespeople for interviews and difficult questions.
• Supporting crisis communications planning and after-hours response when required.
• Shaping Capita's external communications strategy and plan to support transformation narratives.
• Developing credible stories and campaigns across earned, owned, social and digital channels.
• Building relationships with reporters at national and trade outlets.
