Job summary

Catering in Manchester seeks an experienced Export Control and Compliance Officer to advise senior stakeholders across a complex engineering environment. You will manage licensing, sanctions, and international trade obligations while coordinating with technical and commercial teams.

Ideal candidates bring UK export legislation expertise, ITAR/EAR knowledge, and experience with LITE or SPIRE. SC clearance eligibility is required for this permanent, hybrid role in Manchester.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Export Control or International trade compliance.
• Experience within highly regulated Manufacturing or Engineering sector such as Defence, Aerospace or similar.
• SC Clearance OR Eligibility to pass SC Clearance needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the Export Control Compliance Programme, acting as the principal adviser on export controls, licensing requirements, sanctions and relevant international trade regulations.
• Classify military, dual-use, software and technology against UK Strategic Export Control Lists, assessing technology transfers, end users, end use and destination risks.
• Prepare, submit and administer export licences through LITE, including OGELs, OIELs and SIELs, while maintaining accurate records and liaising with ECJU, HMRC and other regulatory authorities.
• Manage sanctions and denied-party screening, support customs compliance and advise on UK export legislation alongside US ITAR and EAR requirements where applicable.
• Develop policies and procedures, deliver compliance training, conduct audits and monitoring, investigate potential breaches and support wider ethics, anti-bribery, third-party due diligence and compliance activities.
