Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Principal Examiner for GCE A Level English Language (Unit 1). The role ensures standards are maintained across externally assessed units and oversees examiner standardisation. You will lead standardisation meetings, manage materials, and support Examiners while reporting to the Assessment team.

The position requires extensive experience in QA, assessment practices, and the ability to coordinate training and quality assurance activities at a senior level.

Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
• History of moderation and/or marking a regulated qualification.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proven ability to provide and co-ordinate training such as standardisation and other standards-related activities.
• A comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector.

Responsibilities

• Oversee standardisation and marking of externally assessed units.
• Lead meetings such as pre-standardisation and standardisation.
• Prepare and collate materials for standardisation and support Examiners.
• Monitor progress of supervisors/examiners and report to the Assessment team.
