Job description

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional events with a creative flair for marketing? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? Join the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) and help us engage, connect and support one of the UK's most vibrant business communities.

As our Senior Events & Marketing Executive, you will play a key role in planning, promoting and delivering the Chamber's extensive programme of member events while supporting wider marketing campaigns across the organisation. Working closely with the Events Manager and Head of Marketing, Digital & Events, you will help ensure events are well attended, professionally delivered and contribute to member satisfaction and retention.

You will take ownership of the membership events calendar, managing the operational and marketing activity required to deliver successful events across the Chamber network. From venue sourcing and event logistics to supporting marketing campaigns and post-event analysis, you will be responsible for creating engaging experiences that support our members and commercial objectives.

The role will involve:

  • Managing the Chamber's membership events calendar and associated marketing activity.
  • Coordinating all aspects of event delivery, including venue sourcing, delegate management, registration, invoicing and on-the-day event support.
  • Creating engaging marketing content and promotional materials to maximise attendance and engagement.
  • Working closely with divisional leads and colleagues across the organisation to support business objectives.
  • Analysing campaign and event performance to identify opportunities for improvement and maximise return on investment.
  • Supporting wider departmental marketing activity and projects as required.
  • Acting as a brand ambassador and ensuring all communications align with GBCC brand guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of three years' experience primarily in events, with marketing, excellent communication skills and a highly organised approach to managing multiple priorities. You will be comfortable working independently, building strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders and maintaining excellent attention to detail.

You will also have:

  • Experience in planning and delivering events.
  • Experience in contributing to and executing marketing campaigns.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive and results-focused approach.
  • An interest in digital marketing, customer insight and marketing analytics.

A diploma, NVQ or degree in event management (or working towards), experience using email marketing platforms and experience marketing to a B2B audience would be advantageous.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Marketing, Digital & Events team and play a vital role in supporting the growth and success of Greater Birmingham's business community. If you are ready to bring your creativity, organisation and passion for events and marketing to the GBCC, we'd love to hear from you.

At GBCC, our employees benefit from:

  • Hybrid working (currently 50%) & flexible working hours within GBCC’s core working hours - non-contractual arrangement
  • 28 days annual leave (includes 3 fixed Christmas days) + 8 bank holidays
  • Pension: 3% employer contribution
  • Life assurance of x4 salary
  • BHSF scheme; discount offers and access to GP, counselling & employee assistance program.
