Job description
Overview

Drawing on your expertise in education research, you will play a pivotal role in the analysis, evaluation, and development of effective outreach projects that support the University's Access and Participation Plan. This will include detailed review of existing outreach programmes and support for their further development. You will work in close collaboration with our Outreach teams across both learning design and programme delivery. Your work will focus on ensuring our programmes are pedagogically rigorous and effective and founded on robust evidence and will lead on the development of reports and publications relating to this work.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the evaluation of the effectiveness of large-scale outreach programmes aimed at supporting attainment raising in schools and effective transition to higher education.
  • Design and develop small-scale projects, including scoping, consultation with relevant parties, project management, dissemination and evaluation.
  • Produce impactful reports and publications to support institutional decision-making and contribute to evidence-based practice.
Qualifications
  • Education to PhD level in education, developmental psychology, cognitive science or another social science or relevant discipline, or equivalent employment experience.
  • Ability to communicate findings through oral presentations to local, national and international audiences.
  • Track record in managing projects and use of project-management tools, including familiarity with project management techniques, the ability to identify priorities, set targets and ensure that work is completed to deadlines.
  • Demonstrable evidence of producing impactful reports e.g. research reports which supported institutional decision-making or a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to design and develop small scale projects, including scoping, consultation with relevant parties, project management, dissemination and evaluation.
  • Evidence of commitment to personal learning and professional development.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of research and evidence relating to educational attainment patterns and gaps, pedagogy and lifelong learning.
