Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the preparation and submission of high-quality tenders across multiple routes. You will collaborate with preconstruction and operations to secure profitable future work, applying advanced construction knowledge, commercial expertise and leadership to price accurately and manage risk.

You will oversee bids, develop strategies, coordinate supply chain enquires, review site information, and guide junior estimators.

Qualifications

• HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline.
• Significant experience in analytical estimating across industrial, commercial, education and healthcare sectors on projects typically up to and beyond £20m.
• Proficiency in Conquest estimating software and strong Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel).
• BIM awareness and ability to interrogate 3D design models.
• Strong commercial awareness and risk management capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead tender appraisal to identify risks, opportunities and commercial drivers.
• Develop bid strategies with senior management and bid team.
• Oversee preparation of enquiries, supply chain engagement and pricing.
• Review site conditions, perform site visits and identify constraints.
• Lead design team meetings and influence design development.
• Produce Bills of Quantities and detailed cost estimates with preliminaries.
• Develop budgets and cost plans aligned with client objectives.
• Analyze subcontractor quotations for best value and compliance.
• Manage tender risks and maintain the Risk Register.
• Lead value engineering during design, especially on Design & Build projects.
• Present tender submissions and articulate commercial positions.
• Ensure timely submission of all tender documentation and handover to delivery.
